Green Dragon’s ‘last call

exhaling myth on fire

summons a cauldron

****

Originally built in the early 1800s, predating many of the surrounding buildings in Leadenhall Market, 42 Bulls Head Passage features a curved entrance, a blue wood-framed glass door, and ornately carved glass above its threshold. Currently, an optician’s shop this building has sheltered many establishments over its long history. The most prominent of which was a pub named Green Dragon.

Trivia: Rumor has it that author Percy Bysshe Shelly spent the entire day at the Green Dragon pubโ€”before he eloped to France later that evening, to marry his future wife, Mary. In more recent times this blue framed door is famous as the entrance to the Leaky Cauldron in the 2001 movie: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (titled: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in the U.S).

    1. Ah yes, good question. Its modern equivalent is Neon blue a bit lighter blue than the ancient Egyptian blue.
Love your well appointed phrase…”history unlatched” — splendid!
      Glad you enjoyed the share.

      Blessings.
