   alternating stiff and flexible membranes to produce their sounds?

   1. Some parts of the hemisphere yes, others the season has passed. They do have quite the loud vocal capacity.

5. Around where I live, the rhythm of the cicadas has finally stepped to nature’s microphone as the corn and soybeans mature for their eventual harvest.
