A Book – An Ode

A book โ€” though its pages may turn and toss

Leaves not its reader-ship in the same place.

Rescuing Daniel Defoe from Robinson Crusoe,

Decoding cryptic clues from Christie’s Poirot,

Pitching ‘n tossing wise counsel in Kipling’s ‘If,’

Guarding in precious lore a ring with Gandalf,

Walking with Frost when, ‘Stopping by woods,’

Sifting syllables from the ether by the meter,

Crafting a tome kneaded with skill and quill,

Satisfying ‘One Hundred Years Of Solitude,’

With legendary hosts of imaginative morsels.
