In the valley beneath a waning coral moon,
The valiant sequester strength from the trees of life,
Washing their feet in enlightenment’s many hued pool,
Savoring nectar from the fragrant fruit of tranquility,
Watching sunset and moonrise in the garden of the gods.

When I saw the title of your poem, the old folk song “Down in the Valley” immediately came to mind. Your poem makes a wonderful response to the song’s call. (I’ve been very taken with the notion of call-and-response lately.)

Yes! Liz, I am always amazed at your grasp of the undertones in poetry.
You are absolutely correct. The impetus for the poem is the call and response hymn. Thank you!❤🙏👍
Happy Saturday! Blessings
