Waiting For Rain – A Poem

Image by Michelle Maria from Pixabay

Dark ominous clouds blurt a polite burp,

Instead of thunderous belching showers.

A pledged promise of abundant rain slips

Into a gastric memoir; its epigraph a blur.

Motionless arboretum in heron-like poses

Transfixed, anticipate a feast in the breeze.

House” flies squeeze indoors seeking shade;

But promptly egress, buzzing unpleasantries

As they escape the vigilant swatter’s brigade.
