Dear summer – A Poem

Gower Peninsula, Swansea – Image by Harry Burgess from Pixabay

Dear Summer,

Thank You:

For radiant horizons extended days,

Deep blue Oceans in sunshine’s haze.

For squirrels – furry freelance shoppers,

Busy checking out at garden registers.

For, feasting ‘guests’ in cornucopia’s row,

Pruning leaves to extinction, as they grow.

For sunburn, your stolen kiss on our sheen,

Spotlighting to others where we’ve been.

And,

For the flickering sandcastles of last year’s stories,

Translucent in

The sea swept peninsulas of today’s memories.

Thank you.
