In Remembrance

To those alive today and,

 those who walked this earth before us;

Who walked into battle:

to protect

to liberate,

to save.

They who knew the cost and toll

on their life, and

on their own families.

Who made the decision to leave their loved ones,

to travel far away, to fight

to protect what we already own

as humans;

The right to choose.

Much respect and honour forever.

In acknowledgment and appreciation–

To the children of those who went to battle;

who grew up without a parent who did not come home,

Or who never met their parent.

To the spouses left behind,

To the parents left behind,

To the sisters and brothers left behind,

To the grand parents, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends left behind

And many more left behind.

Thank you for your sacrifice.

To you – a world-full of gratitude expressed today.

Because you too,

the family and friends of those who went to battle,

fight your own personal battles at home.

You too are heroes.

Thank you for your resilience to endure.

Lest we forget; that freedom costs the world everything.
