Pain is a constant friend.
The winter cold reverberating in your joints
at night, another.
The mind says, ‘”you are not going to make it,
the odds are against you.”
But your heart
Knows you are going to make it through.
Surrounded by seemingly superior forces
You dig a trench in your soul–
the well spring of mind.
You look deep for a reason
To make it through.
The reason floods your heart like a warm blanket,
comforting you, despite the pain.
You made a promise to stand in the gap
for your family;
To carry the family legacy,
Through your gift with a pen.
You chose your line and you drew it with a pen and with your words
And so, with that gut resolve, you stand.
You stand firm against the darkness.
Pain of loss, and
pain in your physical temple,
Clamour in your ringing ear for attention.
But, yet you stand firm–
Knowing that the legacy you promised to continue,
Is stronger than your pain-riddled temple in the darkness of the night.
Suddenly, a still small voice answers your cry, your prayer.
His words flood your heart,
“I will never leave you or forsake you.
Your ever-present help in time of need.”
Then, you notice, at some point
you no longer stand.
Because, He carried you.
You sleep soundly and at ease.
He landed you alive on a safe shore;
refreshed with a new sense of purpose,
with new strength,
safe to live a new day,
a day which He has made.
You rejoice as you awake
to the Sunrise dancing at your window.
And, you utter a prayer of thanks to,
Him in whom you believe, God.
Rest well everyone. Pleasant evening, night and morning. May overflowing blessings come your way today.
